All about Miss Lopez

Monday, August 31st, 2015
Hi!  I’m Miss Lopez!
Teaching is an absolute passion of mine!  I am so excited to work with you and your child!  It is going to be a year full of fun, learning, and lots of adventures.  I can’t wait to see what the year has in store for us!  I thought you might like to know a little bit about me.

I am married to my wonderful husband, Robert. We have been married for 11 years.   He is an avid technophile who enjoys cooking.  I am a person who loves to keep busy.  Some hobbies I enjoy are crafting, reading, and taking pictures.  I keep a classroom blog where you can see all the pictures of the wonderful activities we do in the classroom. (http://newsfrommisslopezclass.blogspot.ca/)

I have lived in Canada for about 29 years.  I lived in New York City for the first part of my life and in El Salvador for part of my childhood.  I am fully trilingual and I understand Italian quite wellJ  My parents are two amazing people who have inspired me all of my life.  I also have a younger brother, Gus.   He has a little boy named Max.  I love my nephew to pieces!  He has a great sense of humor and lots of energy!  Very soon Max will be enjoying the company of a little sister.  She will be born in NovemberJ I can’t wait.

This will be my fifteenth year teaching; my tenth year at Pierre de Coubertin.  I absolutely love teaching!  It is my mission to instill love for learning in my students.  I attempt to teach with a passion for my subjects so that my students develop a desire to become life-long learners.  Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.  It is so important to keep communication open between us.  I look forward to a great year together!

A few of my favorites:
Color: Pink
Animal:  Cow
Food:  Sushi

Welcome to another school year!

Dear Parents,
Hello everyone, I hope you had a wonderful and restful summer holiday.
I am Miss Lopez and I will be your child’s sixth grade teacher this year.  I am really looking forward to working with you, and excited to help your child succeed in my class.
Grade six is an exciting year.  You will find sixth grade is more demanding and requires more responsibility than fifth grade.  I have no doubt that you will welcome these challenges with open arms!  You will also find sixth grade offers exciting and rewarding opportunities for your child to grow.
I have been planning for this year all summer and I am very happy we are finally starting this adventure!
Please feel free to call me at PDC or email me whenever you have a concern at mclopez2004@gmail.com  The sooner we discuss a problem, the sooner it can be solved.  We both share a deep concern for your child’s welfare and development. Make sure to check out our classroom blog frequently for any announcements, important messages and impromptu pictures.

I am looking forward to an exciting school year!

Last day of school

Hi everybody,
The end of the year is always bitter sweet.  The end of the month of June always comes with mixed emotions.  Some of us are looking forward to sleeping in and relaxing during the summer months, yet we can't help but to feel sad that a fantastic school year has come to an end.  It is hard to believe how quickly the school year has passed and come to an end.  "Time flies when you are having fun," they say.
Another cliché is "Where has the time gone?" but… Where has the time gone? It is hard to believe that we will be waving good-bye to our students tomorrow, wishing them a happy summer. They have all made wonderful progress and grown up right in front of our eyes!  Sometimes I have to take a double-take as I watch them and realize how much they have changed since last September when the school year began. I'm sure you see it too, just how much our munchkins have matured, how much they have learned, and how quickly they are becoming the people they are meant to be.
What a joy it has been to work with your babies and watch them navigate their world no matter what I threw their way!

Today we cleaned our desks:

We danced while we had our XTRA recess:

Some of us rested instead after a baseball-filled week-end:

We enjoyed an afternoon at the park being kids:

Class 403 you have given me a year full of joy, memories, and smiles.  Thank you for all the love kiddos;)
To all of the parents I want to say thank you for all of your support and help throughout the year.  We made a great team;)  To our munchkins I want to say to enjoy your newly found summertime freedom!  Remember to keep in touch and to be safe...I will miss you.
