Fourth grade holiday festivities


Fourth Grade Holiday Festivities

The fourth grade teachers have been busy little elves.  We have been working together to plan a Holiday delight for the students.  What follows below is a schedule of the last week of school.  Please note that the activities are the same for all of the children.  It makes no difference if it is an English day or a French day.  


Monday, December 17th, 2012 – Day 4

 
Optional Attire:  Santa hats, elf hats or reindeer headbands.
 Crafting Activity:  Melting 3D Snowmen & Snowwomen.

 Tuesday, December 18th, 2012 – Day 5 
Optional Attire:  Green tops & jingle bell accessories    Crafting Activity:  Holiday Surprises!



Wednesday, December 19th, 2012 – Day 6
Optional Attire:  Red tops & garland boas  :)
Crafting Activity:  Gift Bag Designing.


Thursday, December 20th, 2012 – Day 1
Optional Attire:  Silly Christmas Sweaters.
Crafting Activity:  Minute to Win It: Holiday Edition.

Friday, December 21st, 2012 – Day 2
Optional Attire:  Red & Green Tops with choice of accessories.
Crafting Activity:  Cold Weather Colouring.

Bonus Activity:  Electronic & Board Games (As per parental  permission).

        
The children are also invited to bring in special afternoon snacks this week.  
The teachers will work extra hard not notice the nutritional value of the afternoon munchies the kids bring up to class.  
We do ask that you make sure that all of the snacks are peanut and nut free since we have children with those food allergies in fourth grade.

3D Shapes fun!

We define 3D shapes as geometric figures that have three dimensions, width, depth and height. 3D shapes differ from 2D shapes because they have thickness.  They are often thought of as solids, but can also be hollow, like an empty box.  We classify 3D shapes by the number and size of their faces, the number of their vertices, and by the number and size of their edges.

Faces - these are the flat parts of the 3D shape.

Edges - these are the sides of the faces, where two faces meet.

Vertices (Vertex) - These are the corners or points of the shape.


Lots to remember so we decided to make it fun!  We were learning and eating 3D shapes:
