The First Two Weeks of Grade 6!

What a way to welcome our students to a wonderful school year!  The heat was no match for us.
It was difficult to get back into the grove of things but we managed to do it just fine:)

We worked on back to school stations a.k.a centers:)

We went to the park to take advantage of the beautiful-hot weather:)

We had a hotdog lunch and picnic outside to welcome the students back to school!

What STEAM looks like in our classroom!

According to Concordia University of Portland Click here to visit their page when students engage in activities that combine different elements of STEAM, they experience guided inquiry in which they must ask thoughtful questions, discover answers, apply what they learn, and problem-solve creatively.
Many STEAM projects involve teamwork and thoughtful dialogue in which students exchange ideas and discuss ways to problem-solve. Through these activities, students learn how to divide up responsibilities, compromise, listen to and encourage each other. Some students might approach STEAM with excitement or curiosity, while others might be more timid or apprehensive.

Here are my students enjoying themselves as they work on their first STEAM project in class:

Class 601

Class 602

Stay tuned for more videos of what our kids are working on in class:)
